ACO Christmas in July

ACO Christmas in July

aco_logoFor 30 years, Allen Community Outreach has been helping transform lives by providing essential human and social services in Allen, Fairview, and Lucas. ACO is a unique one-stop social services agency that provides food, clothing, emergency aid, counseling, and assistance with other humanitarian resources.

Christmas in July is the primary community fundraiser seeking financial resources to underwrite the revenue to meet the needs of local families in times of crisis.

In 2014, ACO gave away 496,335 pounds of food to 9,691 individuals; 3,759 local men, women, and children have been served with humanitarian aid, and 19,461 meals were delivered to home bound seniors. ACO’s Resale Shop also provided countless items of clothing to families in our community in order to save money and minimize at least some of their typical living expenses.

For three decades, First United Methodist Church of Allen has been privileged to partner with ACO in meaningful and profound ways in meeting the needs of our neighbors. We have also long been one of the leading church contributors in providing much needed financial support. In so many ways, ACO is an unofficial extension of our ministries.

ACO’s goal for the 2015 Christmas in July is $200,000. No gift from any contributor is too large or small, and all gifts make a difference. Gifts of $30, $50, or $1,000 can go a long way to provide relief for local neighbors. Or maybe this could be the year you decide to become a FIVE-Star Santa and make a pledge of $1,000 a year for five years.Resale Shop

Our July Communion offering benefits ACO. Your Christmas in July envelope is included in today’s bulleting and will be available in the pew racks throughout the month. Please make it a priority to generously support ACO during July so that local families have the support needed to move beyond current crises into a new season of giving back and helping others.

Thank you for being such a generous church and loving your neighbor in such tangible ways.

Grace and Peace,

Rev. Todd Harris, Senior Pastor
