Spring Worship Series: Generosity

Spring Worship Series: Generosity

On Sunday, March 19, Senior Pastor Rev. Todd Harris begins a five-part worship series on Generosity.

At the heart of the series is this idea from Mark 4:25:

And the message is this:

  1. If we are to bring about God’s vision for our church, each and every person will need to be generous with their talent and resources.
  2. Bringing about God’s vision will require each of us to freely give our time in serving others.
  3. This Holy Vision will require the generous sacrifice of our resources to bring about a 21st century facility for 21st century people, a necessary sacrifice to minister to our current congregation and reach new people for the kingdom.

What exactly is this extreme generosity?

  • Generosity is not just a strategy to raise money for a building: it’s a strategy for transforming the world, a strategy for revolution!
  • Generosity is not just about making the world a better place: it’s about making the world new, bringing in a new kingdom.
  • Generosity is not just about giving our time and money: it’s about giving our whole lives for the greater purposes of God.
  • Generosity is, and should be, a central activity of the followers of Christ to reveal God to the world.

At the heart of our Embrace & Transform campaign, you’ll discover this conviction that sincere and lasting generosity is…

In worship on Sunday, March 19, our Embrace & Transform campaign leaders present an update on the campaign and share some very exciting news about early commitments. Following worship at 12:15pm, we invite you to join us for a Town Hall Meeting in the gym when GFF Architects presents our vision for our new building updates.

If the people of God are to move forward in achieving God’s vision for FUMC Allen, if Vision 2020 is to be as God hopes and dreams, we the people of FUMC Allen are called to be generous.

We hope to see you in worship this Sunday to consider how Christians are called to demonstrate our gratitude to God.

Exodus 35: 4-5, 20-23, 29

Moses was teaching the Israelites to live the life of faith. As part of the faith, he called them to receive an offering.
When we are grateful for all that we have; when our lives are grounded in prayer, we will live our lives in faith.
The faith includes serving and giving. To live a life of faith, we live a life of generous serving and giving.

Generosity: Giving Above and Beyond
Luke 10: 25-37
In the story of the Good Samaritan there was not limit to what he would do or give.
As people who have received the sacrifice of the good Samaritan,
is there a limit to what we will give or do in service to others?
