August 6 Worship & Workshop

August 6 Worship & Workshop

You are invited to join us on Sunday, August 6, when we welcome Dr. Jim Ozier to our sanctuary worship. He’ll be bringing a message based on Romans 12:13–“Making First Impressions Last“–at 8:15am, 9:30am and 11:00am. Following worship, he’ll lead us in a workshop titled “Accelerating Church Growth” at 12:15pm in the gym.

Dr. Ozier is known for his preaching, teaching, and motivating congregations to reach their full potential in the areas of hospitality and reaching their community. He has a long successful history in church development and church growth. In 1990, he followed the founder of a 7-year-old church, Trietsch Memorial UMC in Flower Mound, Texas. In his role as the second pastor for this young congregation, he learned first-hand how difficult the transition of pastoral leadership can be when a church has never done it before! With his departure nearly 18 years later, the church had grown to more than 4,000 members and helped birth 3 new congregations. With that change, Jim saw how critical the “passing of the baton” is for the successor pastor following a long-tenured pastorate.

Serving on the Appointive Cabinet of the North Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church for the past 6 years as the director of New Church Development and Congregational Transformation, Jim has brought consultative insights and experience to bishops and cabinets dealing with issues of growth and vitality. “I absolutely love coming alongside pastors and churches to help them get clear on their culture, improve their hospitality, and accelerate their growth,” says Jim, “even if they are going through a pastoral transition!”
