“Those who really can receive bread from a stranger and smile in gratitude, can feed many without even realizing it. Those who can sit in silence with their fellow man not knowing what to say but knowing that they should be there, can bring new life in a dying heart. Those who are not afraid to hold a hand in gratitude, to shed tears in grief, and to let a sigh of distress arise straight from the heart, can break through paralyzing boundaries and witness the birth of a new fellowship, the fellowship of the broken.” ― Henri J.M. Nouwen
Caring and Support Ministry invites you to join us for two new support groups beginning in September on the first and third Tuesdays of each month from
7:00pm-8:00pm in the FUMC Allen Parlor.
Beginning Tuesday, September 5, and each first Tuesday of the month, we’ll offer a facilitator-led discussion on topics that affect us all: grief, loss, employment, finances, life changes, aging, relationships, and more. Each month, we’ll let the discussion will guide us as we share in the many things that happen as we strive to live a Christ-like life in today’s world.
On Tuesday, September 19, and on the third Tuesday of each month that follows, we’ll offer a facilitator-led discussion for the parents, guardians, families and friends of those who live the day-to-day activities of life with a child or young adult with learning disabilities as well as mental health issues. These include but are not limited to ADD/HD, dyslexia, autism spectrum disorder, anxiety, depression, and other special needs. We’ll have someone who is or has walked the same path and will be there to walk it with you. We will share and listen with each other as we grow in knowledge through support.
Facilitators include, but are not limited to, Ruth Swingle & Alison Thomas.
