November Worship Series: Called

In Ephesians 4:1, the Apostle Paul emphatically encourages the early Christians, “As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.”  Is he speaking to me? Is he speaking to you? Few spiritual matters have given us as much pause as the subject of one’s call. Why am I here? How am I supposed to live out this life God has given me? Is one’s calling specific or general? …

Seeds…Planting for the Harvest

In these crazy and chaotic times, we find comfort in knowing that there is one thing that never changes: God’s love for all of God’s children. The ministry of Christ’s church is more important than ever before as we face the unknowns of today and tomorrow. Undoubtedly, the work of the Church is to proclaim the saving grace of Jesus Christ and the hope he brings to all people. We are called to be a tangible presence of Jesus in…

Hospitality Ambassadors

FUMC Allen’s hospitality ambassadors are responsible for extending radical hospitality to everyone who walks through the doors of our church. Less than 30 minutes on a Sunday morning is all it takes to be a part of this vital ministry. We need adults as well as kids 6th through 12th grade who can earn community service hours by serving. We are now using Sign Up Genius to initiate a new process for scheduling volunteers. By clicking HERE, you can schedule…

Turquoise Table Workshops

Have you noticed the picnic table in our sanctuary? If so, you may have noticed that it started off as bare wood and has been becoming turquoise over the past few weeks. That is no coincidence! Part of our Reclaiming the Table worship series has been inspired by the book The Turquoise Table by Kristin Schell. She writes about simple ways we can find connections in our neighborhoods, engage our community, and build friendships. In our busy lives, it can…

October 8 will be a very special Sunday at FUMC Allen. On that day, we’ll end our worship series,  Reclaiming the Table, with a CHURCH-WIDE POT LUCK LUNCHEON at 12:15pm in the gym. We ask that each family bring a dish to feed 6-8 people to share at the meal. Volunteers will be available to take your dish before the 8:15am, 9:30am, and 11:00am worship services. Let them know if the dish needs to be refrigerated, stay warm, or can…
