FUMC Allen Celebrates Its Longest-Serving Staff Member

In July 2018, Terry Fecht will celebrate 35 years of service on the staff of FUMC Allen as the associate director of music.

During these years, Terry has served faithfully as the organist and pianist for all worship services. She has served as the accompanist for children and youth choir. She has traveled thousands of miles to accompany Daring Youth Choir and the Chancel Choir in many trips. She has served under seven choir directors and has even served as the interim director of music ministry.

Terry has served through four different senior pastors. She has played some 22,000 songs in our sanctuary for worship alone, a rough estimate based on 49 weeks a year, 13 songs per Sunday, and 35 years. This doesn’t include the number of songs she’s played during two rehearsals each week or weddings and funerals. This should probably be a world record.

Upon her thirty-fifth year of service, Terry will take on a new role on the church staff. She will serve as the part-time music ministry administrative assistant and Project Praise pianist. After 35 years, she will give her fingers and feet a rest from making music on Sunday mornings.

We will celebrate her ministry on August 5, 2018, during all three worship services. It will be a chance to express our sincere gratitude for Terry’s longstanding service to our congregation.

Plans for the next music accompanist will be announced soon. In the meantime, take time to thank Terry for a job well done. What a blessing she has been to our congregation.
