On August 20, the Staff Parish Relations Committee announded two new staff appointments as well as three new additions to our staff.

On August 20, April Kwan accepted the role of Mid-Childhood Ministry Director, leading the discipleship process for our children in grades 3-6.Her responsibilities include our sixth grade On Deck program as well as serving as our connection to the Treehouse Special Needs Ministry.
April previously served FUMC as our youth ministry assistant.
After serving this summer as our interim children’s ministry director, Trish Morehead steps into her permanent role as Early Childhood Ministry Director, developing a foundation of faith with our littlest disciples from birth-second grade.
She will also guide our church in connecting with our Children’s Creative Playday Preschool children and their families
Tori Cantu joined the staff this week as our Assistant Youth Minister. She attended FUMC Allen before moving to Kansas to study at Tabor College on a soccer scholarship. At Tabor, she received her Bachelor of Arts in psychology.
While in college, Tori served with Project Transformation in Sherman/Denison and found a passion for working with youth and young adults. Most recently, she was a summer intern at Creekwood UMC and discovered a calling to youth ministry.
Myung-Jin (MJ) Wright joined our staff as our Worship Accompanist on August 21. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degree in piano performance from the Juilliard School of Music in New York City. Since 2012, she has been pursuing a doctorate of musical arts at the University of North Texas (UNT) in Denton.
She is a staff pianist at Southern Methodist University in Dallas as well as with the Lone Star Wind Orchestra and the Richardson Symphony Orchestra. MJ performs regularly in the DFW area.
Cassidy Thomson is will serve as DARING Youth Choir Accompanist for the 2019-20 school year. She accompanies the choir on piano at all rehearsals and performances, including the annual youth musical production.
Cassidy has been a member of FUMC Allen since sixth grade and was involved in the DARING choir and youth orchestra as a teenager. She recently graduated from Texas A&M with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and minors in mathematics and business. Cassidy plans to return to school next year to complete her master’s degree.
