2021 college scholarship applications and recommendation forms for FUMC Allen scholarships now available
First United Methodist Church of Allen offers several opportunities to earn financial help for full-time college and post-graduate students who have been accepted into and will be attending an accredited institution of higher learning in the fall.
In 2020, FUMC Allen distributed $16,000 in scholarship funds to 21 students.
Upcoming college freshmen, college upperclassmen, and graduate students are eligible. Applicants must attend an accredited institution of higher learning as a full-time student.
Scholarship award criteria include:
- Students who are or have been members of FUMC Allen and have been actively involved in the church and/or youth programs.
- Students entering their first year in college
- Returning students are also eligible
- Students pursuing a ministry-related major.
- Students attending a United Methodist institution of higher learning.
Academic achievements, extra-curricular activities, community service, and financial need may also be taken into consideration.
Returning college students must have a recommendation form completed by a college ministry or church leader who is familiar with your involvement in ministry/church life while in college (not required from HS seniors).
Scholarship applications and recommendation forms (required for those already in college) are due Thursday, April 1!
The Scholarship Committee will consider applicants for all scholarships–Program, Endowment, and Memorial–awarded by FUMC Allen. To be considered, applicants will need to complete the specific addenda in the application for each program.
With their scholarship application, we require a Recommendation Form for all returning college students. The Recommendation Form should be completed by a college ministry or church leader who is familiar with their involvement in ministry/church life while in college.
At least one recommendation must be received by the FUMC Allen scholarship committee by the application deadline of Thursday, April 1, 2021.
Additional information regarding the process and requirements can be found on the application and recommendation forms.
