Our Response to New CDC Guidelines

In response to the new recommendations from the CDC, masks will be optional in worship and on the FUMC Allen campus for all persons who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 beginning this Sunday, May 16, 2021.

FUMC Allen has followed the CDC’s guidelines up to this point, and that’s what we’ll be doing now as well. The CDC has indicated that the chances of a fully vaccinated person contracting COVID-19 are very low, and if they do, chances of having a life-threatening case are negligible.

The CDC continues to recommend that unvaccinated people wear masks, and we would suggest this, too. But at this point, you must make that decision.

We know that some of you are not yet comfortable in public without wearing a mask. We also know that some of you have not yet been vaccinated, including our children up through age 15. Therefore, we still encourage those of you in these groups to continue to wear your masks.

Whatever you choose, we will continue to be a loving, supportive community of faith that is respectful of either choice.
