Worship Series Acts The Adventure Begins

Big, plucky, and occasionally wild: that is the story told in the Book of Acts.

Join us as we explore Luke’s story of the beginnings of the Church. It’s the story of where we’ve come from and a story that will guide us on the adventure of discovering where God is sending us in strange and unusual times. And maybe, just maybe, it might be to the ends of the earth!

Beginning Sunday, August 1, in the FUMC Allen sanctuary, live stream on Facebook and YouTube at 8:40am and 11:00am.

An Impressive Healing
Rev Mary Beth Hardesty-Crouch, preaching

An impressive healing occurs because Peter and John heal in the name of Jesus.
This frightens the authorities who are afraid that the Jesus disturbance is in danger of becoming a mass movement.
But trying to keep spirit-filled apostles quiet is like trying to hold back a break wave.

Acts 8:26-40
Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop
Rev Jessica Wright, preaching

A story of four questions and a quotation, this week invites us to consider our own questions when it comes to faith and our faith community:
Where might the Spirit be sending us? Whom are we reluctant to join because of their complicated story?
What complicated stories to we embody?
This story also marks the shift to the mission to the Gentiles: God’s grace reaching, stretching, never stopping.

Daring the Journey
Rev Mary Beth Hardesty-Crouch, preaching

We come to the end of the book of Acts, but it’s not the end of the story.
