It’s time to register for 2021-2022 music ensembles at First United Methodist Church of Allen.
On Sunday, August 29, September 6, and September 12, we’ll have available in the atrium more information about our various music groups for children, youth, and adults. We’ve provided an overview of each group below.
For our children in grades 2-6, we offer our percussion ensemble, In Beat With God. This group meets on Sundays from 4:00pm-5:00pm in the Upper Room Chapel beginning September 12. For more information, contact Karen O’Connor.
DARING Ministries is for youth in grades 7-12 who want to sing, play an instrument, or serve behind the scenes. DARING sings in worship and will be preparing the musical “Godspell” for this year’s summer choir tour. Beginning September 12 from 4:00pm-5:00pm, the DARING vocalists meet in the sanctuary, and the orchestra meets in S202 (choir room). The tech crew meeting location is yet to be determined.
Parents wishing to learn more about the DARING Ministries program are asked to attend an information meeting on Sunday, August 29, at 12:15pm in the Fellowship Hall. We also offer an auditioned youth praise band, Catalyst, for youth in grades 7-12. This group leads worship and other events throughout the year. Catalyst meets on Tuesdays from 5:00pm-6:15pm beginning September 7. Contact Rev Rusty King for an audition.
Carillon Bells is a bell choir for adults that begins rehearsal on Sunday September 12 from 5:30pm-7:00pm. Contact Rev Rusty King for more info.
The Chancel Choir is an adult choral ensemble that sings sings in worship each Sunday. They also prepare an annual Christmas cantata, a patriotic luncheon, and a Lenten cantata. This year, they will prepare and perform the Mozart Requiem with the Allen Symphony Chorus on April 10 in Carnegie Hall. For details, contact Rev Rusty King.
