Dear Church Family,
On December 12, our FUMC Allen Music Ministry led us in two beautiful worship services in a presentation of Handel’s (and Jennens’) Messiah. It was a glorious morning, filled with light and hope and rejoicing! You can enjoy the music again or experience it for the first time on our YouTube channel.
During worship experiences like these, I am reminded that the God we worship is not only the God of all the universe but also the God who has chosen to enter into the whole of the human experience in Jesus of Nazareth. That takes my breath away!
Because of the Incarnation, I am filled with hope and trust that God is working through you and me and using the people of FUMC Allen to glorify God, care for our community and lead people to Christ. I’ve seen that again this year through our annual Holiday Challenge. Through your generosity, we are serving the children, teachers and staff of Boyd Elementary School; families at the Samaritan Inn and Streetside Showers in McKinney; children and teens at House of Hope in Honduras; and service men and women in faraway places. In the midst of trying economic times, the people of FUMC Allen are generous, faithful, and prayerful.
At this time, one of the most important things you can do for your church is pray that we finish 2021 in a strong financial position. FUMC Allen has been blessed to receive additional stimulus funds in 2021 and without these funds, we project that we would be significantly below our budget needs.
Please prayerfully consider a special end-of-year gift to ensure that we finish the year strong. To help you in your discernment, you will be receiving in the USPS mail this week a statement of your giving through November 2021.
Gifts* can be made in the following ways:
- In-person worship on December 19, 24, and/or 26 , 2021
- Online via our Giving Portal
- By mail: Mail must be postmarked by December 31, 2021, to receive credit for 2021
*Please indicate year-end gift.
I believe that the Church, empowered by the Holy Spirit, can and should be the greatest force for good in the world and that our church, First United Methodist Church of Allen, can and will be an even greater influence in our community in 2022.
I am extremely blessed to be your pastor and look forward to another great year with you in ministry. Thank you for praying. Thank you for serving. Thank you for giving as God leads you in this season.
I’m praying for you. I hope you’re praying for me.
