Confirmation and On Deck Programs Return on September 11

FUMC Allen’s sixth grade confirmation and the fifth grade On Deck program return on Sunday, September 11, during the 9:45am Education Hour.

All fifth and sixth grade students are welcome to participate. Confirmation for sixth graders meets in the Youth Wing in room W260 at 9:45am on Sunday. Our fifth grade On Deck students meet at 9:45am on Sundays in room C172 of the Children’s Ministry Wing.

Both groups will be commissioned during the 11:00am worship hour on Sunday, September 25.

Sixth Grade Confirmation

Confirmation is a step in a young person’s faith journey that empowers them to develop relationships with peers and adults, helps them to encounter God in a more meaningful way, and teaches lessons about the history, polity, and doctrine of Methodism.

Confirmation is not a graduation from church. Instead it is a step on the pathway of faith. The Confirmation process is an opportunity for students to live into the covenant which God has made.

Each student, through the work of the Holy Spirit, can choose to willingly embrace the covenant with a complete understanding of the commitment and responsibility required under the direction of Rev Mary Beth Hardesty-Crouch, Rev Josh Esparza, and Adam Lubbers. They will lead the group using the Colaborate Methodist Confirmation curriculum.

On Sunday, September 11, students will meet in W260 with Josh and Adam for a fun kick-off time together.  While they are doing that, Rev Mary Beth Hardesty-Crouch will meet with parents/caregivers in the large group area for a Confirmation Parent Orientation to discuss what to expect for your confirmand, look at important dates during the confirmation journey, and address any questions you have.

Fifth Grade On Deck

On Deck is our fifth grade Sunday School program at FUMC Allen. We’ve designed On Deck as a fun year of learning and fellowship for our students as they complete their last year before sixth grade confirmation!

All fifth graders who attend our church are welcome to participate. The On Deck curriculum and activities are structured to serve as a transition into our sixth grade confirmation program.  Experienced On Deck director, Rod Morehead, will lead this group through their study of the Bible.
