In Case of Emergency

In case of emergency . . . On rare occasions, medical emergencies do happen here at FUMC Allen. Do you know what to do when an emergency situation happens while you are at the church? We want to remind our congregation that we have several first aid kits located inside the church as well as an automated external defibrillator (AED), which is used to help those experiencing sudden cardiac arrest. Our AED is located near the welcome desk right next…

Thanksgiving Gratitudes

“Give thanks in all circumstance, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18 On November 19, Pastor Mary Beth invited the congregation to participate in an online poll during our 8:30am and 11:00am services. We were asked to answer the question “Name one thing for which your are grateful.” The question received 81 responses at the 11;00am service and the word cloud above represents those answers from that service. The size of the words represents…

Why Do People Give?

A devotional shared with us by Elizabeth Fairchild, FUMC Allen Financial & Membership Secretary Why? As I sit at my desk adding financial gifts and pledges, I pray blessings on the people that have given and I ponder many questions: Why do people give? Why do some people give so much? Why do some people give so little? Why do some people give so much with so little? Why do some people give so little with so much? Why do some…

Mailbox Theft Alert and New Mailing Address

Intentional Mailbox Damage and Theft Recently, our church experienced intentional damage to the campus mailbox. We were made aware that the intentional damage resulted in the theft of some of the incoming mail to the church. We were able to confirm the theft as a member of our congregation reported that a check that was sent on their behalf was cashed/deposited but not into FUMC Allen’s account. We are unable at this time to confirm how many other items this…

Volunteer Opportunity with English Conversation Class

The English Conversation Class that meets at FUMC Allen on Thursdays at 7:00pm is looking for conversation partners for the fall semester. As a conversation partner, you will lead the discussion with a small group of people who are looking for opportunities to practice and improve their English. Conversation partners do not need to teach or know education theory. This class is not ESL (English as a Second Language). Conversation partners simply listen, are hospitable, and ensure everyone is involved…
