In just one week (four short days actually), your church sprung into action and greeted the new year with a level of enthusiasm we haven’t seen since those pre-pandemic days of January 2020. What an exciting time to be a part of First United Methodist Church of Allen.
On Sunday, January 8, we begin a new worship series, Holy Humor, with Rev Dr Alyce McKenzie kicking off this four-week look at embracing joy. As part of this series, we are celebrating joy, laughter, and humor with a Parody Party on January 15 at 12:15pm. Registration is now open for this event so please sign up today. We are ready to reserve your seat and prepare your plate. Just click on the related image below to access the registration link.
On January 1, we welcomed a new bishop to the North Texas Conference. In this video, Bishop Ruben Saenz Jr shares his welcome with us.
Then on Martin Luther King Day, January 16–a day when schools are closed and many of us get a holiday–FUMC Allen is hosting a Day of Service in our Allen community. We have something for everyone: young and old, singles and families, church groups and work groups. Take a look at the opportunities by clicking on the event image below and sign up today.
Coming in the next few weeks, we see two new Bible studies with a third yet to come; small groups gatherings, including lunches, dinners, and listening sessions; and a new human sexuality class for fifth and sixth graders called “Wonderfully Made.” It’s also time to drop your deposits for Bridgeport Camp to take advantage of Early Bird Discounts.
Don’t forget to scroll all the way down and check out the community activities with ties to our church: a Lions Club vision screening, JCK Resources’ winter dance for adults with disabilities (volunteers needed!), and opportunities for spiritual growth and transformation with HeartPaths DFW.
