FUMC Allen Welcomes New Director of Music Ministry
FUMC Allen’s Staff Parish Relations Committee is pleased to announce the addition of Michael “Mike” R. Link as our new director of music ministry at First United Methodist Church of Allen. His first official Sunday with us is Mother’s Day, May 14, but he’ll be rehearsing with the Chancel Choir on Wednesday, May 10. Marc Dawson will serve as the interim director until Mike’s arrival. Today is Mother’s Day when we honor all of our mothers and pray blessings on them today. We extend our gratitude to all mothers because they are a gift from God; we pray for God’s peace, joy, and love in their heart and in their homes. On Saturday, May 6, 2023, a lone gunman opened fire on shoppers of the busy Premium Outlets Mall in Allen, Texas, killing eight people and seriously wounding seven. We are all traumatized and mourning this horrible tragedy in our community. Confirmation Sunday
Confirmation refers to the decision a person makes to respond to God’s grace with intentional commitment, publicly reaffirming his or her baptismal vows before the congregation. Confirmands are youth in the sixth and seventh grade who together learn about the meaning of Christian faith, the history and teachings of the United Methodist Church, and an explanation of the baptismal and membership vows they will be professing.
