Confirmation refers to the decision a person makes to respond to God’s grace with intentional commitment, publicly reaffirming his or her baptismal vows before the congregation.
Confirmands are youth in the sixth and seventh grade who together learn about the meaning of Christian faith, the history and teachings of the United Methodist Church, and an explanation of the baptismal and membership vows they will be professing. As part of the process, confirmands are paired with a faith partner, an adult member of the church who helps assist the confirmand on their journey.
Our Confirmation Class has been meeting every Sunday at 9:45am in the youth wing since September 11, 2022. Since that time, they have visited churches of other denominations and faith backgrounds, gone on retreat together, shared many meals, and had some fun roller skating.
On Sunday, April 30, 2023, we confirmed eight young people as full members of the United Methodist Church. They will be introduced to the congregation at the end of The Table, our 8:30am modern worship service. They will be confirmed and receive the vows of membership at the 11:00am Traditional Service.
Please join us in welcoming these newest members to First United Methodist Church of Allen.
