Mailbox Theft Alert and New Mailing Address

Intentional Mailbox Damage and Theft

Recently, our church experienced intentional damage to the campus mailbox. We were made aware that the intentional damage resulted in the theft of some of the incoming mail to the church.

We were able to confirm the theft as a member of our congregation reported that a check that was sent on their behalf was cashed/deposited but not into FUMC Allen’s account. We are unable at this time to confirm how many other items this may have occurred with and so we need your assistance because we know that we have individuals who send checks for their giving through the U.S. Postal Service.

If you sent a check to FUMC Allen through the U.S. Postal Service on or after September 1, 2023, we would ask that you please check the information through your financial institution to see if the check written to FUMC Allen was cashed.

FUMC Allen does its banking with Inwood National Bank, so the deposit account showing on the back of the check would indicate the check was deposited into Inwood National Bank.

If you can identify that the check written to FUMC Allen was not deposited into Inwood National Bank, please contact your financial institution and report the transaction as fraud.

We would also request that you contact us at finance@fumcallen.org to let us know so that we are aware of the situation and we can assist you however possible.

New Mailing Address

An increase in mailbox theft has been reported by the USPS over the last year with more than 25,000 cases from October 1, 2022, to March 31, 2023. Due to the increase in mailbox theft and our experience of having it occur on our campus, FUMC Allen has made the decision to open a P.O. Box. We have put into place with the U.S. Postal Service a forward of address for all mail delivered by the U.S. Postal Service to the new P.O. Box.

Please make note of the updated mailing address for FUMC Allen. If you have questions or concerns, please contact Cliff Bohaker, cliffb@fumcallen.org, if  something you sent via U.S. Postal Service may have been impacted by this theft experience.
