Thanksgiving Gratitudes

Thanksgiving Gratitudes

“Give thanks in all circumstance, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

1 Thessalonians 5:18

On November 19, Pastor Mary Beth invited the congregation to participate in an online poll during our 8:30am and 11:00am services. We were asked to answer the question “Name one thing for which your are grateful.”

The question received 81 responses at the 11;00am service and the word cloud above represents those answers from that service. The size of the words represents the number of times that word was repeated.

As you can see, we are a grateful church.

This week, we are so excited to report the following acts of giving that were happening in our church these past two weeks:

  • Our Military Support Group stuffed 200 stockings on Sunday, November 12, to kick off our Holiday Challenge. On Friday, November 17, more volunteers assembled 200 additional stockings and a total of 400 gift-filled stockings were shipped to our active duty military so they will know they are remembered this holiday season.
  • Kids Against Hunger reports that more than 200 volunteers assembled 31,000 meals on Sunday, November 12. These meals will be shipped to children in Honduras and to other locations where children are in need of healthy meals.
  • On Thursday, November 16, the XYZ Senior Adults enjoyed a presentation from Patriot Paws and raised $485 in donations for this non-profit that trains and provides service dogs to veterans.
  • Playday’s Gobble-thon had children running hundreds of laps in the gym to raise more than $800, which will help fund their outdoor classroom and purchase new gym equipment.
  • The XYZs and Maxie’s Monday Lunch Bunch contributed an abundance of stuffing and broth for the Boyd Elementary Thanksgiving Feast on Thursday, November 16.
  • More than 400 families were served a traditional Thanksgiving meal with all the fixings at Boyd Elementary on November 16. Many of our members, both new and old, were there to serve as volunteers.

We have so much to be thankful for, and we are thankful for you.

Happy ThanksGiving.
