Allen Interfaith Day of Service Recap

Allen Interfaith Day of Service Recap

This week, we celebrate the Allen Interfaith Day of Service, which was held on Presidents’ Day, Monday, February 19, after being rescheduled from a cold wintery Dr Martin Luther King Jr Day on January 15.

More than 200 volunteers came together at Ereckson Middle School on this federal holiday for the event hosted by the Allen Interfaith community. Five local faith groups–Suncreek UMC, FUMC Allen, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, the Radha Krishna Temple, and the Allen Islamic Association–planned and executed four service projects, with all supplies provided by those congregations.

Helpers of all ages assembled 320 protein food packs and 300 hygiene kits for Oak Lawn UMC’s Warming Station and Migrant Respite, 156 cards and 45 lanyards for Operation Gratitude veterans, and 20,196 meals for Kids Against Hunger.

FUMC Allen sponsored the packaging and provided the supplies for the 20,196 meals packaged for KAH with a total expense of $6,058.80 ($.30 per meal). We could still use your help in covering that cost. Please prayerfully consider making donation by either clicking the image above or visiting our giving portal, https://fumcallen.tpsdb.com/Give/give-online-fumcallen and selecting KIDS AGAINST HUNGER from the drop-down menu.

Thank you for your support, and thank you to everyone who came out to help on February 19.
