Shrove Tuesday

Many Christians observe Shrove Tuesday (or Fat Tuesday or Pancake Tuesday) on the day before Ash Wednesday, which marks the beginning of Lent. Traditionally, we’ll eat pancakes–and other rich foods–on Fat Tuesday, originally to use up the milk and eggs that would otherwise spoil because of not being eaten during the fast of Lent. Hospitality Foundation Poured – Steel Assembly Almost Complete

Hospitality Space Last week, our construction crew poured the foundation for the new Hospitality Atrium.  You can see that area in the picture below.  The pipes coming through the slab to the left will provide the plumbing for our new coffee bar. The  Staff Parish Relations Committee (SPRC) of First United Methodist Church of Allen is pleased to announce that The Rev. The UMC Appointment Process

As announced earlier this week, Rev. Todd Harris is being appointed as the new District Superintendent of the Northwest District effective July 1, 2019. Until late June, Pastor Todd and his family will continue to be part of FUMC Allen. Todd will be preaching regularly and doing all the things he does normally. He will on occasion attend cabinet meetings to learn about his new job, but his primary responsibility remains serving as our Senior Pastor for the next five months.…

Construction Progress Continues

Children’s Center Update This has been a great week for the construction team as the roof has been installed on the Children’s Center and we are finally dried in.  The back-end HVAC, plumbing, and electrical work are almost complete, and the drywall will begin to be installed in the next few days.  Some Building Committee members took our Children’s Ministry Director, Mary Freeman and Children’s Ministry Assistant, Trish Morehead, on an interior tour yesterday. Children’s Center Update Since the arrival of the steel a few weeks ago, the contractors have made great progress creating the shell for the new Children’s Center.  As you can see below, the roof deck is on, the interior wall framing is up, and the HVAC ductwork is in process.  We should be dried in completely within a couple of weeks and then moving forward with the interior work.
