ACTS: THE ADVENTURE BEGINS
EmboDYing Enthusiasm
ACTS 2:42-47 NRSV
Rev Mary Beth Hardesty-Crouch
Scripture
42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. 43 Awe came upon everyone, because many wonders and signs were being done by the apostles. 44 All who believed were together and had all things in common; 45 they would sell their possessions and goods and distribute the proceeds to all, as any had need. 46 Day by day, as they spent much time together in the temple, they broke bread at home and ate their food with glad and generous hearts, 47 praising God and having the goodwill of all the people. And day by day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved. ACTS 2:42-47 NRSV
Call to worship
We are God’s church.
We come together to worship.
God has called us into his family.
We come together to share our lives.
God has given us his Spirit.
We come together to celebrate.
We are God’s church.
We come together to worship.
TIMPANI DEDICATION LITURGY
We present this instrument to be consecrated to the glory of almighty God
and for service in this congregation. It is good to give thanks to the Lord,
To sing praises to your name, O Most High,
to declare your steadfast love in the morning,
and your faithfulness at night,
to the music of the lute and the harp,
to the melody of the lyre.
For you, O Lord, have made me glad by your work;
At the works of your hands I sing for joy,
One: Let us pray.
Eternal God, whom the generations have worshiped through the gift of music, Accept our praise to you in the sound of this instrument, which we consecrate in your name and to your glory. Grant that its music may be a blessing to all who worship here, and that they may be consecrated to you, whose sound has gone out through all the earth and whose words to the end of the world. Let our music be so joined to your holy Word that your glory may surround us and empower us for the service to which you call us in the world; Through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
