Will The Real Jesus Please Stand Up?
Week Three
Matthew 7:7-11
Rev Mary Beth Hardesty-Crouch
Scripture

7 “Ask, and it will be given you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and everyone who searches finds, and for everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. 9 Is there anyone among you who, if your child asks for bread, will give a stone? 10 Or if the child asks for a fish, will give a snake? 11 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask him!

MATTHEW 7:7-11 NRSV

Call To WorSHIP

Come, let’s praise God together!
For God is great, and worthy of our praise!
Let’s tell stories of God’s power and majesty,
His mighty acts throughout history:
For God is great, and worthy of our praise!
Let’s remember the compassion He has shown toward us;
His mercy and unfailing love, generation after generation:
For God is great, and worthy of our praise!
Let’s pass these stories along to our children and neighbors,
so that they, too, may come to know and love our God.
For God is great, and worthy of our praise!
Let’s worship God together!

Creed

Jesus taught us to speak of hope as the coming of God’s kingdom.
We believe that God is at work in our world turning hopeless and evil situations into good. We believe that goodness and justice and love will triumph in the end and that tyranny and oppression cannot last forever. One day all tears will be wiped away, the lamb will lie down with the lion, and justice will roll down like a mighty stream.
True peace and true reconciliation are not only desirable,
they are assured and guaranteed in Christ.
This is our faith. This is our hope.
