Because Someone Gave: A Story of Hope

Emily Wiley van Oosterom grew up at FUMC Allen, was confirmed here in 2002, graduated from Allen High School in 2008, and now lives in Amsterdam. When her daughter Charlotte was born three months ago, Emily began to reconnect with her faith family at FUMC Allen through our livestream and online presence. Emily reached out to me in July, knowing that she and her husband Marco were planning a trip to Texas. She very much wanted to have Charlotte baptized…

Seeds…Planting for the Harvest

In these crazy and chaotic times, we find comfort in knowing that there is one thing that never changes: God’s love for all of God’s children. The ministry of Christ’s church is more important than ever before as we face the unknowns of today and tomorrow. Undoubtedly, the work of the Church is to proclaim the saving grace of Jesus Christ and the hope he brings to all people. We are called to be a tangible presence of Jesus in…

Spring Worship Series: Generosity

On Sunday, March 19, Senior Pastor Rev. Todd Harris begins a five-part worship series on Generosity. At the heart of the series is this idea from Mark 4:25: And the message is this: If we are to bring about God’s vision for our church, each and every person will need to be generous with their talent and resources. Bringing about God’s vision will require each of us to freely give our time in serving others. This Holy Vision will require…

Stewardship Sermon Series: Defying Gravity

October 23 – November 13 8:15am 9:30am 11:00am FUMC Allen Sanctuary 11:00am The Way  Fellowship Hall We all want to be generous, but most of us find this hard to carry out. Demands on our time and money make scarcity a real problem. Marketing creates a compulsion to buy things that are new or the latest version of the old. Instead of enjoying the freedom to bless others with the best of our lives, we feel trapped. We are held…
