Pop Top Ministry Continues to Thrive at FUMC Allen

For many years now, Shelley and Mark Stevenson have collected pop-tabs for the Ronald McDonald House on behalf of FUMC Allen. Their program intentionally connects children, college-age young adults, and churches. The program engages children to strengthen their literacy, social-emotional,…

Lent

Lent is a season of forty days, not counting Sundays, which begins on Ash Wednesday and ends on Holy Saturday. Lent comes from the Anglo Saxon word lencten, meaning “lengthen” and refers to the lengthening days of spring. The forty days represents the time Jesus spent in the wilderness, enduring the temptation of Satan and preparing to begin his ministry. Lent is a time of repentance, fasting and preparation for the coming of Easter. It is a time of self-examination and reflection. In the early…

Change 4 Change

Change 4 Change Update Change4Change started at FUMC Allen on March 25, 2018. The idea is simple: to designate all the loose change (pennies, nickels, dimes, etc.) received in the offering plate during worship toward the General Mission fund. And those pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters really add up! In 2018, we received $973.88 to use for missions just from Change4Change! We used these funds to support teachers at Rountree Elementary School, supply 700 water bottles for students at Boyd…

Communion Offerings: General Missions Fund

Every first Sunday of the month, when we come to receive communion in worship, we have the opportunity to give to one of our special mission offerings. The recipients vary from Send Hope, working with children and families in Honduras, to Project Transformation, impacting the lives of students in North Texas and lots of things in between. But every so often, there’s a mission offering designated for “general missions.” This sounds a little vague, but your gift to our general…
