Holy Week is the week of Christian observances leading to Easter Sunday. The week begins with Palm Sunday and progresses through Holy or Maundy Thursday and Good Friday. It concludes with the celebration of Easter Sunday.

Be an Agent of Change: Change Teams Now Forming

Rev Mary Beth Hardesty-Crouch and Rev Rusty King are forming Change Teams to help with the task of changing the chancel set up from The Table to the Traditional Worship service on Sunday mornings at 9:45am. Would you, your family, and/or your small group be willing to be part of the team? We need five people each week, and we hope is to develop enough of a roster of volunteers to set up a rotation schedule. Our goal is having…

COVID-19 Update for July 7 2020

Jesus taught us that the greatest command was to love God and to love our neighbor. John Wesley’s General Rules remind us that we are to first do no harm. Taking steps to keep one another safe is a way we can live into this command and be vigilant and proactive leaders in our community, doing our part to curb the spread of the coronavirus. To this end, FUMC Allen has made the following decisions, which are effective immediately:  …

Earn Your WINGS

What’s essential for a long journey or a long flight? Your first thoughts might be good music, plenty of snacks, clothing, money, or gas. While all of these things and more are necessary, nothing is as essential as a road map, a GPS, or a flight plan to get you to where you’re going. The same is true for our faith journey. Why WINGS? Scripture calls us to be and to make disciples of Jesus Christ. So, how do we live,…

Making Relationships Work: We Need Your Family Pictures

In our February worship series, we’ll be focusing on Making Relationships Work: how to enhance our love, overcome gridlock, turn toward one another instead of away, and create a life of shared meaning together, whatever our families may look like in this season. As a part of our worship series, we’d love to share some family pictures from you. They could be of your  grandparents when they were children, a school picture from when you were little, your mom and…

Worship Series: Life Signs

He is risen! He is risen indeed! We worship a risen savior and the good news of our faith is that Easter is not limited to one Sunday a year. Some say that every Sunday is a mini-Easter because we gather to celebrate our resurrection faith. The Church calendar tells us that Easter is the season that lasts for 50 days, beginning on Easter Sunday and concluding on the day of Ascension when Jesus ascended to be with God. No matter…

Open House

FUMC Allen welcomes our Muslim neighbors on January, January 24. We’ll share a meal in the Fellowship Hall at 5:30pm and worship together with prayer and communion at 6:00pm in the sanctuary.  At 6:30pm, we’ll offer a United Methodist 101 class for anyone interested in learning more about the United Methodist faith.  All are welcome to attend.

All Saints Day

Does “All Saints Day” Really Matter? (based on an article by Ryan Hamm on the “Relevant Website”) On November 6, United Methodists recognize all the saints who from their labors rest as we celebrate All Saints Day in worship. Why do we celebrate “All Saints”? All Saints Day reminds us that there are Christians who came before us who have run the race well and now dwell with God. Loved ones, friends and family members, heroes of the faith, forefathers…
